Follow The Directions

01

Step

Turn on a multi-functional pressure cooker (such as Instant Pot®) and select Saute function. Heat oil and brown beef for approximately 5 minutes, ensuring each piece develops a rich, caramelized crust.

02

Step

Add beef broth, pearl barley, onion, mushrooms, garlic, bouillon powder, celery, parsley, Italian seasoning, and sazon seasoning. Mix well to combine all ingredients, ensuring the barley is submerged in the broth. (2 minutes)

03

Step

Close and lock the lid. Select high pressure according to manufacturer's instructions; set timer for 35 minutes. Allow 10 to 15 minutes for pressure to build.

04

Step

Release pressure using the natural-release method according to manufacturer's instructions, about 12 minutes. Unlock and carefully remove the lid.

For a richer flavor, sear the beef in batches to avoid overcrowding the pot.
Adjust the amount of barley to your preference. More barley will result in a thicker consistency.
If you don't have sazon seasoning, a pinch of smoked paprika and a dash of cumin can be used as a substitute.
Garnish with fresh parsley or a dollop of sour cream before serving for an extra touch of flavor.
