Follow The Directions

01

Step
7 mins

In a large glass, metal, or ceramic bowl, beat the egg whites until foamy. Gradually add 1 cup of sugar, continuing to beat until stiff, glossy peaks form. (Approximately 5-7 minutes)

02

Step
5 mins

In a separate large bowl, beat the egg yolks and the remaining 1 cup of sugar until light, fluffy, and pale yellow in color. (Approximately 3-5 minutes)

03

Step
1 mins

Gently fold the sweetened egg whites into the sweetened egg yolk mixture until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this will deflate the egg whites.

04

Step
1 mins

Pour the egg mixture into a large punch bowl or pitcher. Slowly stir in the rum, half-and-half, and milk until well combined.

05

Step
2 hrs

Cover and chill the eggnog in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld. (Minimum 120 minutes)

06

Step
2 mins

Before serving, stir the eggnog gently. Ladle into glasses filled with ice and garnish generously with freshly grated nutmeg.

For a non-alcoholic version, substitute the rum with an equal amount of apple cider or spiced fruit juice.
Ensure the eggs are fresh and pasteurized for safety.
Adjust the amount of nutmeg to your preference. A little goes a long way!
Store leftover eggnog in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
