Follow The Directions

In a medium-sized saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. (Approximately 2 minutes)

Add the brown sugar and Amaretto liqueur to the melted butter. (Approximately 1 minute)

Stir continuously until the brown sugar is completely dissolved and the mixture begins to simmer gently. (Approximately 8-10 minutes)

Continue to cook, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly and becomes glossy. Be careful not to burn the sugar. (Approximately 5 minutes)

Pour the warm Amaretto sauce over your favorite cooked carrots (steamed, roasted, or boiled) and serve immediately.

For a richer flavor, use dark brown sugar.
A splash of heavy cream can be added at the end for an even more decadent sauce.
This sauce is also delicious over roasted sweet potatoes or butternut squash.
