For a smoother jam, you can use an immersion blender to partially blend the mixture after it has simmered for about an hour. Adjust the amount of cayenne pepper to your preference. Start with 1/4 teaspoon and add more to taste. To sterilize jars, wash them in hot, soapy water, rinse well, and then place them in a preheated oven at 250°F (120°C) for 10 minutes.
