Follow The Directions

01

Step

Combine 2 cups of unsweetened grated coconut and coconut milk in a mixing bowl. Ensure the coconut is thoroughly moistened. (Prep time: 5 minutes)

02

Step

Place the white sugar in a saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring constantly to prevent burning, until the sugar is completely melted and clear. (Cook time: approximately 5 minutes)

03

Step

Remove the saucepan from the heat. Immediately stir in the coconut mixture and almond flour until everything is well combined. The mixture will be thick. (Mixing time: 3 minutes)

04

Step

Allow the mixture to cool until it is easily handled without burning your hands. (Cooling time: approximately 15-20 minutes)

05

Step

Once cooled, roll the coconut mixture into small, bite-sized balls. (Rolling time: 15 minutes)

06

Step

Pour the remaining 1/4 cup of grated coconut into a separate bowl. Roll each ball in the coconut to coat it evenly. (Coating time: 5 minutes)

07

Step

Refrigerate the coated coconut balls until they are thoroughly chilled and firm, at least 15 minutes. This will help them hold their shape. (Chilling time: 15+ minutes)

For a richer flavor, toast the grated coconut lightly before combining with the coconut milk.
If the mixture is too sticky to roll, add a little more almond flour, one tablespoon at a time.
Store the finished Qumbe in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
