Follow The Directions

01

Step
2 mins

Prepare the base: In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and baking soda. (2 minutes)

02

Step
3 mins

Layer the flour mixture: Using a funnel with a wide opening (approximately 2 inches), carefully pour the flour mixture into the bottom of a clean, dry jar. Gently pack it down to create a firm, even layer. (3 minutes)

03

Step
5 mins

Oatmeal and Chocolate: Grind the rolled oats in a blender or food processor until coarsely ground. Grate the milk chocolate bar using a fine grater and combine it with the ground oats. (5 minutes)

04

Step
3 mins

Layer the oatmeal mixture: Gently spoon the oatmeal-chocolate mixture over the flour layer in the jar, packing it down slightly. (3 minutes)

05

Step
4 mins

Add the sugars: Pour the granulated sugar over the oatmeal layer, packing gently. Follow with the packed brown sugar, pressing down to create another distinct layer. (4 minutes)

06

Step
3 mins

Nuts and Chocolate Chips: Sprinkle the chopped walnuts evenly over the brown sugar layer. Top with the semi-sweet chocolate chips, filling the jar to the top. (3 minutes)

07

Step

Attach Recipe Card: Include a decorative card with the following baking instructions for the recipient:

For the Recipe Card (to attach to the jar):
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
Empty the contents of the jar into a large mixing bowl.
Add 1/2 cup (1 stick) of softened butter or margarine, 1 large egg, and 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.
Roll the dough into walnut-sized balls and place them 2 inches apart on a lightly greased baking sheet.
Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown around the edges.
Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Enjoy!
