Follow The Directions

01

Step

Position an oven rack approximately 6 inches from the broiler and preheat the broiler. (Prep time: 5 minutes)

02

Step

Cut the French bread into four equal pieces. Slice each piece lengthwise, being careful not to cut all the way through, to create four individual sandwiches. Spread margarine evenly on the insides of each bread piece. Arrange the bread, cut-sides up, on a baking sheet. (Prep time: 5 minutes)

03

Step

Broil the bread in the preheated broiler until it is toasted and lightly browned. Keep a close watch to prevent burning, this should only take 1 to 2 minutes. Remove the baking sheet from the oven. (Cook time: 1-2 minutes)

04

Step

On the bottom half of each sandwich, layer two slices of turkey, two slices of provolone cheese, and two slices of bacon. Lightly cool the top half of the bread, and spread mayonnaise evenly onto the cut sides of each top piece. Set aside on a plate. (Prep time: 5 minutes)

05

Step

Broil the layered bottom bread pieces until the provolone cheese is melted and bubbly, approximately 1 minute. Remove from the broiler and spread 1 tablespoon of cranberry sauce on each sandwich. Top with two slices of fresh tomato and a lettuce leaf. Place the top half of the bread over each sandwich to complete. (Cook time: 1 minute, Prep time: 5 minutes)

For an extra layer of flavor, consider adding a thin spread of Dijon mustard to the bread before adding the other ingredients.
If you prefer a sweeter sandwich, use whole berry cranberry sauce instead of jellied.
Feel free to substitute other cheeses, such as Swiss or Monterey Jack, based on your preference.
