Follow The Directions

01

Step

In a small saucepan, gently mash the blackberries with a fork, releasing their juices. (2 minutes)

02

Step

Stir in the sugar, blackberry schnapps, and lemon juice, ensuring all ingredients are well combined. (1 minute)

03

Step

Place the saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly to prevent sticking. (1 minute)

04

Step

Continue cooking, stirring frequently, until the blackberries break down and the mixture begins to simmer gently. This should take approximately 5 to 10 minutes. The sauce will thicken slightly as it cooks. (5-10 minutes)

05

Step

Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly before serving. The sauce will thicken further as it cools. (5 minutes)

For a smoother sauce, strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve after cooking.
If you prefer a non-alcoholic version, substitute the schnapps with an equal amount of blackberry juice or water.
This sauce can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Gently reheat before serving.

The lemon juice really brightens up the flavor. I used it on a cheesecake and it was incredible.
