Follow The Directions

01

Step

In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced bacon and cook, stirring occasionally, until browned and crisp (7-10 minutes).

02

Step

Add diced yellow onion to the pot and cook, stirring frequently, until softened and translucent (5-7 minutes).

03

Step

Stir in apple cider vinegar, white sugar, and minced garlic. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Pour in chicken stock and stir to combine. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and cook until heated through (2-3 minutes).

04

Step

Add the cut fresh green beans to the pot and toss to coat them evenly with the sauce. Cover the pot and reduce heat to low. Let the green beans simmer gently until tender, yet still slightly firm (8-10 minutes).

For a vegetarian option, omit the bacon and add a pinch of smoked paprika for a smoky flavor.
Feel free to substitute the green beans with 3-4 bunches of your favorite greens, such as collard greens, kale, or mustard greens. Adjust cooking time as needed until the greens are tender.
A touch of red pepper flakes can add a pleasant hint of heat.
