For a smoother sauce, use an immersion blender to briefly blend after cooking, but before cooling. Be careful not to over-blend. This sauce can be made up to 3 days in advance. The flavors actually improve with time! Adjust the amount of sugar to your liking, depending on the sweetness of your pears and the tartness of your cranberries. Try adding a splash of Grand Marnier or other orange liqueur for an extra layer of flavor.
