Follow The Directions

01

Step
5 mins

Combine Liquids and Dry Ingredients (5 minutes): In your bread machine pan, add the water, vegetable oil, and brown sugar. Then, layer in the bread flour, gluten flour, dry milk powder, pumpkin pie spice, and active dry yeast, following the order recommended by your bread machine manufacturer. This layering helps the yeast activate properly.

02

Step
2 mins

Select Setting and Start (2 minutes): Choose the 'Fruit' setting on your bread machine, if available. Alternatively, the 'Basic White Bread' setting works well. Press 'Start' to begin the baking process.

03

Step
0 mins

Add Fruit (Timing Varies): If your bread machine has a signal for adding fruit, add the golden raisins and candied mixed fruit peel when prompted. If there's no signal, add them approximately 5 minutes before the end of the kneading cycle. This ensures even distribution without over-mixing.

For a richer flavor, try soaking the golden raisins in rum or warm water for 30 minutes before adding them to the bread machine.
If you prefer a less sweet loaf, reduce the brown sugar by 1 tablespoon.
Feel free to experiment with different types of dried fruit, such as cranberries, chopped apricots, or currants.

The fruit distribution was perfect! I used the Basic White Bread setting and it turned out great. Thanks for sharing!

I've made this loaf several times now. It's a consistent winner. Soaking the raisins in rum is a great tip!

This recipe is so easy! My family loves waking up to the smell of freshly baked bread. I added some chopped walnuts for extra crunch.
