Follow The Directions

01

Step
5 mins

In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, water, and ground cinnamon. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. (5 minutes)

02

Step
10 mins

Add rinsed cranberries to the boiling mixture. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the cranberries begin to burst and the sauce thickens slightly. (10 minutes)

03

Step
30 mins

Transfer the cranberry mixture to a glass bowl or container. Allow to cool slightly at room temperature. (30 minutes)

04

Step
2 hrs

Cover and refrigerate until completely chilled. Stir occasionally while chilling to ensure even flavor distribution. (minimum 2 hours, ideally overnight)

For a more nuanced flavor, consider using orange zest or a splash of orange liqueur.
If you prefer a less sweet sauce, reduce the amount of sugar to 1 1/4 cups.
The sauce will thicken as it cools, so don't be alarmed if it seems a bit thin while cooking.
For a lighter color, use 2-3 cinnamon sticks in place of ground cinnamon. Remove the sticks before chilling.
