Follow The Directions

01

Step

Combine 1 cup plus 3 tablespoons water, 1 tablespoon olive oil, bread flour, white sugar, 1 teaspoon salt, and active dry yeast in a bread machine pan. Select the pizza cycle and press Start. (Approximately 1 hour, depending on bread machine cycle)

02

Step

In a small bowl, mix crushed garlic and 1/3 cup olive oil. Allow to steep for at least 30 minutes to infuse the oil with garlic flavor. (30 minutes)

03

Step

In a separate small bowl, combine Parmesan cheese, parsley, onion powder, and herbes de Provence. Set aside.

04

Step

Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Grease a large rimmed baking sheet with olive oil. (10 minutes)

05

Step

Deflate the dough and transfer it to the prepared baking sheet. Gently stretch the dough to approximately 1/2-inch thickness, creating dimples with your fingers to hold the toppings.

06

Step

Pour the garlic-infused oil evenly over the dough, ensuring it reaches the edges. Sprinkle the Parmesan cheese mixture uniformly on top. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.

07

Step

Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown, approximately 20 to 25 minutes. Remove from oven and transfer to a rack. Let cool for 5 minutes before slicing into squares with a pizza cutter.

For a richer flavor, consider using roasted garlic instead of fresh. Roasting the garlic mellows its intensity and adds a subtle sweetness.
Experiment with different herbs and cheeses to create your signature focaccia. Rosemary, thyme, oregano, and Asiago cheese are all excellent additions.
If you don't have a bread machine, you can knead the dough by hand or with a stand mixer until smooth and elastic, then let it rise in a warm place for about an hour before proceeding with the recipe.
