Follow The Directions

01

Step

Press the Tofu: Place the tofu block between two plates and weigh it down with a heavy object (approx. 3-5 pounds) for 20-30 minutes to remove excess water. Discard the drained liquid. (Time: 20-30 minutes)

02

Step

Prepare the Tofu: Slice the pressed tofu lengthwise into 4 even slabs or cube it for skewers. Arrange the tofu on a plate or skewers.

03

Step

Make the Marinade: In a bowl, whisk together the lime juice, olive oil, cilantro, minced garlic, chili powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper until well combined.

04

Step

Marinate the Tofu: Generously brush the tofu with the prepared marinade, ensuring all surfaces are coated. Cover the plate with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to fully penetrate. (Time: 2+ hours)

05

Step

Grill the Tofu: Preheat your outdoor grill to medium heat and lightly oil the grates to prevent sticking. Place the marinated tofu on the grill and cook until grill marks appear and the tofu is heated through, about 5-7 minutes per side, brushing occasionally with the remaining marinade. (Time: 10-15 minutes)

For best results, use extra-firm tofu; the firmer the tofu, the better it will hold its shape on the grill.
Don't skip the pressing step! This is crucial for removing excess moisture and allowing the tofu to absorb the flavorful marinade.
If you don't have an outdoor grill, you can also cook the tofu in a grill pan on the stovetop or bake it in the oven at 375°F (190°C) for about 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through.
Serve grilled tofu in warm tortillas with your favorite toppings such as salsa, avocado, and shredded cabbage.
