Follow The Directions

01

Step

In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, molasses, heavy cream, vanilla extract, ginger, and cinnamon until smooth and well combined. (2 minutes)

02

Step

Gently dip each challah slice into the batter, ensuring both sides are evenly coated. Allow the bread to soak for a few seconds on each side to absorb the flavorful mixture. (5 minutes)

03

Step

Melt half of the butter in a large skillet or griddle over medium heat until shimmering. (3 minutes)

04

Step

Place half of the soaked challah slices into the hot skillet, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and caramelized. (8 minutes)

05

Step

Repeat the process with the remaining butter and challah slices. (8 minutes)

06

Step

Serve immediately and garnish with fresh berries, a dusting of powdered sugar, or a drizzle of maple syrup, if desired.

For an even richer flavor, consider using brown butter in place of regular butter.
If you don't have challah bread, brioche or Texas toast make excellent substitutes.
Adjust the amount of cinnamon to your preference. A pinch of nutmeg can also be a delicious addition.
For a crisper exterior, lightly dust the soaked challah slices with flour before cooking.
Leftover French toast can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in a skillet or microwave.
