Follow The Directions

01

Step
40 mins

In a large, heavy-bottomed pot or Dutch oven, place the chicken pieces. Add enough cold water to cover the chicken by about 3 inches. Season with salt, pepper, carrots, celery and potatoes. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce heat to a gentle simmer. Cook for 40 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the vegetables are tender. (40 minutes)

02

Step
5 mins

While the chicken is simmering, prepare the biscuit dough according to the package directions. Be careful not to overmix! (5 minutes)

03

Step
20 mins

After the soup has simmered for 40 minutes, drop rounded tablespoonfuls of the biscuit dough into the simmering broth. Be sure to leave space between each dumpling to prevent sticking. Cover the pot and continue to simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the biscuits are cooked through and golden brown. (20 minutes)

04

Step
5 mins

In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 1/2 cups of cold water with the 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour until smooth. Gradually whisk the flour mixture into the simmering soup, stirring constantly until the broth thickens to your desired consistency. Simmer for another 5 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken. (5 minutes)

05

Step

Serve hot and enjoy this ultimate comfort food!

For an extra layer of flavor, try browning the chicken pieces in a little olive oil before adding the water. This will add depth and richness to the broth.
Feel free to add other vegetables to the soup, such as peas, corn, or green beans.
If you don't have biscuit baking mix, you can make your own biscuits from scratch. There are many great recipes available online.
For a richer flavor, use chicken broth instead of water.
Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently on the stovetop or in the microwave.

I added some frozen peas and corn for extra veggies. It turned out great!

The gravy was a little thin for my liking, so I added a bit more flour. Next time, I'll probably just use a cornstarch slurry.

I used pre-cooked rotisserie chicken and it saved me a lot of time. It was still amazing.
