Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat your air fryer to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray or line with a parchment paper liner. (2 minutes)

02

Step

Thoroughly dry the chickpeas: Place the drained and rinsed chickpeas on a plate lined with paper towels. Pat them dry with another paper towel to remove as much moisture as possible. This step is crucial for achieving maximum crispiness. (5 minutes)

03

Step

In a medium bowl, drizzle the dried chickpeas with avocado oil. Sprinkle with chili-lime seasoning, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper (if using). Toss well to ensure the chickpeas are evenly coated with the seasonings. (3 minutes)

04

Step

Transfer the seasoned chickpeas to the preheated air fryer basket in a single layer, avoiding overcrowding. Air fry, shaking or stirring halfway through, until they reach your desired level of crispness, typically 12 to 15 minutes. Cooking time can vary depending on your air fryer model, so keep a close eye on them. (12-15 minutes)

05

Step

Remove the air-fried chickpeas from the basket and season with salt to taste. Allow them to cool slightly before serving. The chickpeas will continue to crisp up as they cool.

For extra crispy chickpeas, consider drying them in a low oven (200°F/95°C) for 30 minutes after patting them dry with paper towels.
Experiment with different seasonings! Smoked paprika, cumin, or even a sprinkle of parmesan cheese can add unique and delicious flavors.
Store leftover air-fried chickpeas in an airtight container at room temperature. They will lose some of their crispness over time, but can be re-crisped in the air fryer for a few minutes.
If you don't have chili-lime seasoning on hand, use a combination of chili powder, lime zest, and a pinch of salt to achieve a similar flavor profile.
