For an extra layer of flavor, try roasting a head of garlic and adding a few cloves to the potatoes while mashing. Yukon Gold potatoes are recommended for their naturally creamy texture, but Russet potatoes can also be used (you may need to add more broth). Do not overmix the potatoes, as this can lead to a gluey texture. Mash until just combined.
