Follow The Directions

01

Step
10 mins

In a large, heavy-bottomed pot, melt the butter over medium-high heat. Add the chopped green bell pepper and onion and sauté until softened and translucent, about 5-10 minutes.

02

Step
15 mins

Stir in the whole milk, condensed cream of potato soup, and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a gentle simmer, uncovered, and cook for 15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

03

Step
7 mins

While the soup simmers, heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground venison and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and crumbly, about 5-7 minutes. Drain off any excess grease.

04

Step
15 mins

Add the cooked venison to the simmering soup, along with the cream-style corn. Season generously with freshly ground black pepper. Continue to simmer for at least 15 minutes, or longer for a richer flavor.

05

Step
5 mins

Stir in the shredded Cheddar cheese until completely melted and the chowder is smooth and creamy. Serve hot.

For an even richer flavor, consider using homemade chicken or vegetable stock in place of some of the milk.
If you prefer a smoother chowder, use an immersion blender to partially blend the soup before adding the cheese.
A pinch of smoked paprika adds a nice depth of flavor.
Garnish with chopped green onions or a dollop of sour cream for an extra touch.

    Excellent recipe, thanks!

This is a very forgiving recipe. I didn't have cream of potato soup, so I used cream of mushroom and it still tasted great!

Next time I think I will try and add some bacon bits to it.

The best chowder recipe I've ever tried. I used ground beef instead of venison and it turned out great.

  • Annabel King

I added a can of diced tomatoes and it gave it a nice tangy flavor.

This recipe is amazing! My family loved it. I added a little bit of cumin and it was a hit!
