Follow The Directions

01

Step

Season chicken with salt, cumin, paprika, chili powder, and cayenne pepper. Place into the bottom of a slow cooker. Pour diced tomatoes into the cooker, followed by onions, jalapenos, habanero peppers, and garlic. Squeeze the juice of lime into the pot and stir the ingredients. (5 minutes)

02

Step

Cover and cook on High until chicken breasts are no longer pink in the centers, about 4 1/2 hours. (4 hours 30 minutes)

03

Step

Remove chicken, shred meat with 2 forks, and return to the pot. Mix to combine and serve with warm tortillas and your favorite toppings. (10 minutes)

For a milder flavor, reduce or omit the habanero peppers. Adjust cayenne pepper to your spice preference.
Serve with your favorite taco toppings like cilantro, diced white onion, sour cream, guacamole, and salsa.
This shredded chicken is also delicious in burritos, salads, or quesadillas. It also freezes well, making it a great option for meal prepping.

I was a little worried about the heat from the peppers, but it was perfect. Not too spicy, just flavorful.
