Follow The Directions

01

Step

In a medium saucepan, combine the milk and sugar. Bring to a gentle boil over medium heat. (5 minutes)

02

Step

Add the rice, stirring continuously until the mixture returns to a boil. (2 minutes)

03

Step

Reduce the heat to low, maintaining a simmer. Cook, stirring frequently to prevent sticking, until the pudding becomes very creamy and the rice is tender. This should take approximately 45 minutes. If the mixture becomes too thick during cooking, add more milk to achieve your desired consistency.

04

Step

Once the pudding has reached your desired consistency, gently stir in the rose water until small bubbles appear on the surface. (1 minute)

05

Step

Remove the saucepan from the heat and allow the pudding to cool slightly. (15 minutes)

06

Step

Pour the rice pudding into a serving bowl or individual ramekins. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or until thoroughly chilled.

07

Step

Before serving, sprinkle the chilled rice pudding generously with blanched slivered almonds.

For a richer flavor, substitute half-and-half or heavy cream for some of the milk.
Adjust the amount of rose water to suit your personal preference. Start with 1 teaspoon and add more to taste.
Garnish with a sprinkle of ground cardamom or a few edible rose petals for an extra touch of elegance.
Leftover rice pudding can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Consider using Arborio rice for an extra creamy texture.
