Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease 4 muffin cups generously with butter, spacing them apart on the muffin tin for even baking. (5 minutes)

02

Step

On a lightly floured surface, gently unfold the thawed puff pastry. Cut the sheet into 4 equal squares. Carefully press each square into a prepared muffin cup, allowing the corners to drape artfully over the edges. (10 minutes)

03

Step

Brush the bottom and sides of the puff pastry in each cup with Dijon mustard, adding a tangy layer of flavor. (3 minutes)

04

Step

Evenly distribute the cut bacon pieces amongst the muffin cups, arranging them around the inner rim of the pastry. (5 minutes)

05

Step

Gently crack each egg into a small bowl, ensuring the yolk remains intact. Carefully slide one egg into each puff pastry-lined muffin cup. (5 minutes)

06

Step

Bake in the preheated oven until the puff pastry is a beautiful golden brown and the eggs are set to your liking, approximately 22 to 27 minutes. For a runny yolk, check after 22 minutes. (22-27 minutes)

07

Step

Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Season generously with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Garnish with freshly chopped chives for a touch of freshness and color. (5 minutes)

For a vegetarian option, replace the bacon with sautéed mushrooms or spinach.
Feel free to experiment with different cheeses, such as Gruyere or Parmesan, for an extra layer of flavor.
If you don't have chives, parsley or dill make excellent substitutes.
For easier serving, let the pastry cups cool slightly before gently removing them from the muffin tin.
