For a richer flavor, use dark amber or Grade B maple syrup.
Toasting the walnuts enhances their flavor and adds a pleasant crunch.
Be careful not to overfill the tart shells, as the filling may bubble over during baking.
If the crust starts to brown too quickly, tent the tarts with foil during the last few minutes of baking.
These tarts are delicious served warm or at room temperature. They can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
