For a smokier flavor, add a 1/2 teaspoon of smoked paprika to the sauce while simmering. Adjust the amount of chile-garlic sauce to your preferred level of spiciness. This sauce can also be used as a marinade. Marinate your chosen protein for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight, in the refrigerator. If you don't have rice wine vinegar, you can substitute with apple cider vinegar or white wine vinegar.
