Follow The Directions

01

Step

In a medium saucepan, bring the water and rice to a boil over medium-high heat. (2 minutes)

02

Step

Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan, and simmer until the rice is tender and all the water has been absorbed. (20 minutes)

03

Step

Add the milk, evaporated milk, sugar, and butter to the saucepan. Stir well to combine. (1 minute)

04

Step

Continue to cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, until the pudding thickens and becomes creamy. (20 minutes)

05

Step

Remove from heat and sprinkle generously with ground cinnamon before serving. Enjoy warm!

For an extra layer of flavor, try adding a splash of vanilla extract or a grating of nutmeg along with the cinnamon.
The pudding will thicken as it cools. If you prefer a thinner consistency, add a little more milk before serving.
Store leftover rice pudding in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

I found that 20 minutes was not enough for the rice to absorb the water, I cooked it for additional 10 minutes.
