Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat your pizzelle iron according to the manufacturer's instructions. (approximately 5-10 minutes)

02

Step

In a large bowl, using an electric mixer, beat together the eggs, granulated sugar, and softened butter until light and creamy. (approximately 2-3 minutes)

03

Step

Gradually add the flour, vanilla extract, and anise extract to the mixture. Beat until just combined, being careful not to overmix. (approximately 1-2 minutes)

04

Step

Lightly spray the inside of the preheated pizzelle iron with cooking spray.

05

Step

Drop batter by level teaspoonfuls onto the center of each pizzelle grid on the hot iron. (approximately 1 minute)

06

Step

Close the lid of the pizzelle iron and bake until the steam subsides and the cookies are light golden brown. (approximately 45-60 seconds)

07

Step

Carefully remove the pizzelle from the iron using a thin spatula or fork and lay them flat on a wire rack or clean newspaper. (approximately 1 minute)

08

Step

While the pizzelle are still warm, lightly dust them with powdered sugar. Let them cool completely. (approximately 15-20 minutes)

09

Step

Dust the other side of the pizzelle cookies with powdered sugar. Repeat with remaining batter to make about 30 cookies.

For a richer flavor, use browned butter in the recipe.
Store completely cooled pizzelle cookies in an airtight container to maintain their crispness.
Experiment with different extracts, such as lemon or almond, to create your own unique flavor variations.

Make sure your pizzelle iron is hot enough before you start baking.

Be careful not to overfill the iron, or the batter will spill out.
