For an extra fudgy brownie, use dark cocoa powder. If you don't have walnuts, pecans or almonds are also delicious. A simple dusting of powdered sugar or a chocolate ganache makes a lovely topping. For a holiday variation, add 1/2 cup crushed candy canes and 1 1/2 teaspoons of mint extract to the batter.
