In a 3-quart saucepan, combine the cranberries, prunes, water, raspberry jam, sugar, apple cider vinegar, salt, and cinnamon stick.

Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking. (Approximately 5 minutes)

Reduce the heat to medium and simmer gently until the sauce has thickened and most of the cranberries have burst. Stir occasionally. (Approximately 10-12 minutes)

Remove the saucepan from the heat and allow the cranberry sauce to cool completely. Cooling intensifies the flavors and further thickens the sauce.

Transfer the cooled cranberry sauce to an airtight container. Cover and refrigerate for at least 3 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld and fully develop before serving.

For a deeper, more complex flavor, consider adding a splash of orange liqueur or a pinch of ground cloves to the saucepan.
If you prefer a smoother sauce, you can use an immersion blender to partially blend the sauce after simmering. Be careful not to over-blend, as this can make the sauce too thin.
This cranberry sauce can be made up to a week in advance and stored in the refrigerator. The flavors will continue to develop over time.
