Follow The Directions

01

Step

Gather all ingredients.

02

Step

Place breadcrumbs in a small bowl.

03

Step

Combine 3 tablespoons olive oil and crushed garlic in a skillet. Heat over medium heat until the garlic starts to sizzle (20-30 seconds).

04

Step

Strain the garlic-infused olive oil into the breadcrumbs. Mix well to create fragrant garlic crumbs. Allow to cool completely.

05

Step

Cut the steak into two (8-ounce) portions. Place one steak between two sheets of plastic wrap. Using a meat tenderizer or heavy pan, pound the steak to a uniform 1/4-inch thickness. Repeat with the second steak.

06

Step

Season both sides of each flattened steak generously with salt and freshly ground black pepper.

07

Step

Spoon the cooled garlic crumbs evenly over one side of each flattened steak, pressing gently to adhere.

08

Step

Fold the plastic wrap over the steak and gently pound again to press the garlic breadcrumbs firmly into the meat. Flip the steak and repeat the process on the other side.

09

Step

Heat the remaining 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot and shimmering, add the steak and sear until it starts to sizzle vigorously (1-2 minutes). Reduce the heat to medium and cook for approximately 2 minutes per side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness is reached. For medium-rare, an instant-read thermometer inserted into the center of the steak should read 130-135°F (54-57°C).

10

Step

Remove from skillet and let rest for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!

For extra flavor, try adding a pinch of red pepper flakes to the garlic crumbs.
Pounding the steak not only tenderizes it but also helps the garlic crumbs adhere better.
Don't overcrowd the pan when searing the steak; cook in batches if necessary to ensure proper browning.
Allowing the steak to rest after cooking is crucial for retaining its juices and ensuring a tender result.
