For best results, use very cold butter and do not overmix the dough. Overmixing develops gluten, which can make the scones tough. Feel free to experiment with other dried fruits and nuts. Dried cherries and walnuts would also be delicious. These scones are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. To reheat, warm in a low oven for a few minutes.
