Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line 2 cookie sheets with parchment paper. (5 minutes)

02

Step

Sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt into a bowl. This ensures a smooth batter and even distribution of flavors. (5 minutes)

03

Step

In a separate bowl, cream brown sugar and margarine with an electric mixer until well blended. Beat in eggs, vanilla, and peppermint extract until light and creamy. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined. Stir in chocolate chips. Avoid overmixing to keep the cookies tender. (10 minutes)

04

Step

Drop 1/4-cup scoops of dough onto the prepared sheets, spacing them about 3 inches apart to allow for spreading. (5 minutes)

05

Step

Bake in the preheated oven until the edges are lightly toasted, 15 to 17 minutes. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely, about 20 minutes. (42 minutes)

06

Step

Spread melted white chocolate evenly over the top of each cookie. Immediately sprinkle crushed candy canes over the white chocolate. Let the white chocolate set completely before serving, about 15 to 20 minutes. (20 minutes)

For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate chips instead of semisweet.
Ensure your margarine is at room temperature for easier creaming.
If you don't have peppermint extract, a few drops of peppermint oil will also work.
For an extra touch, drizzle melted dark chocolate over the white chocolate and candy cane topping.
