Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat your Hobo Pie toaster over the hot embers of a campfire for 2-3 minutes, ensuring it's nice and hot for even cooking.

02

Step

Generously spread butter on both sides of the bread slices. Place one slice, butter-side down, into the preheated toaster. Carefully crack the egg onto the bread, gently breaking the yolk with a fork.

03

Step

Top the egg with the cheddar cheese slice and then cover with the remaining bread slice, butter-side up.

04

Step

Close the toaster securely and carefully place it directly onto the hot coals or embers of the fire. Cook, turning frequently to prevent burning, for approximately 3-4 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and toasted on both sides and the cheese is melted.

For a richer flavor, consider using a flavored butter, such as garlic or herb butter.
If you prefer a runny yolk, reduce the cooking time slightly. For a fully cooked yolk, cook for the full recommended time.
Be cautious when turning the toaster, as it will be very hot. Use tongs or heat-resistant gloves to avoid burns.
Experiment with different cheeses, such as Gruyere or pepper jack, for a unique flavor profile.
