Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. (5 minutes)

02

Step

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, 1/3 cup sugar, baking powder, salt, and baking soda. (2 minutes)

03

Step

Cut in the chilled butter using a pastry blender or your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. (5 minutes)

04

Step

In a small bowl, whisk together the sour cream, egg, and lime zest. (2 minutes)

05

Step

Add the wet ingredients and dried blueberries to the dry ingredients. Gently mix with a fork until just combined. Do not overmix. (3 minutes)

06

Step

Turn the dough out onto the prepared baking sheet. Pat into a 7-inch round. (2 minutes)

07

Step

Using a large knife or bench scraper, cut the round into 8 wedge-shaped pieces. Separate the scones slightly on the baking sheet. (3 minutes)

08

Step

Sprinkle the tops of the scones evenly with the remaining 1 tablespoon of sugar. (1 minute)

09

Step

Bake in the preheated oven for 16-18 minutes, or until the scones are light golden brown. (18 minutes)

10

Step

Let the scones cool on the baking sheet for 5-10 minutes before serving. Serve warm and enjoy! (10 minutes)

For best results, use very cold butter and handle the dough as little as possible to ensure tender, flaky scones.
If you don't have dried blueberries, you can use fresh or frozen blueberries. If using frozen, do not thaw them before adding to the dough.
Feel free to experiment with other citrus zests, such as lemon or orange, in place of the lime.
These scones are best enjoyed fresh, but can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
