Follow The Directions

01

Step
2 mins

Combine the cooked pinto beans, raw sunflower seeds, chopped chives, fresh lemon juice, pink salt, and cayenne pepper in a high-speed blender or food processor. (2 minutes)

02

Step
6 mins

Blend the mixture until smooth, gradually adding water as needed to achieve your desired creamy consistency. Start with a tablespoon at a time to avoid over-thinning. (5-7 minutes)

03

Step
1 mins

Taste and adjust seasonings as needed. Add more lemon juice for brightness, salt for flavor, or cayenne pepper for a spicier kick. (1 minute)

04

Step
1 mins

Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl, drizzle with a touch of olive oil (optional), and garnish with extra chives or a sprinkle of cayenne pepper. (1 minute)

For a smoother hummus, soak the sunflower seeds in water for at least 2 hours before blending.
If you don't have fresh chives, you can substitute with 2 tablespoons of dried chives, but the flavor will be slightly different.
This hummus can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
Serve with warm pita bread, fresh vegetables, crackers, or as a spread on sandwiches and wraps.
