Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a baking sheet to prevent sticking. (Prep time: 5 minutes)

02

Step

In a large bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt until evenly distributed. This ensures a consistent texture. (Mixing time: 3 minutes)

03

Step

Add the boiling water, vegetable oil, honey, and molasses to the dry ingredients. Stir until a cohesive dough forms. (Mixing time: 2 minutes)

04

Step

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured work surface. Knead gently a few times to ensure all ingredients are fully incorporated. Divide the dough into four equal portions. (Kneading and Dividing time: 5 minutes)

05

Step

Roll each portion into a ball, then flatten into a circle approximately 1/4-inch thick. Place the flattened breads onto the prepared baking sheet. If desired, score each bread lightly with two criss-crossing lines using a sharp knife. This helps them break apart easily after baking. (Shaping time: 10 minutes)

06

Step

Bake in the preheated oven until the flatbreads are lightly browned, about 15 minutes. (Baking time: 15 minutes)

07

Step

Optional: Brush the warm flatbreads with melted butter immediately after removing them from the oven for added richness and flavor. (Finishing time: 2 minutes)

For a richer flavor, try using brown butter instead of melted butter for brushing the baked flatbreads.
These flatbreads are delicious served warm with a drizzle of honey, a dollop of jam, or alongside a savory stew.
Adjust the amount of molasses to your preference for sweetness. A little more or less won't significantly alter the recipe.
If you don't have whole wheat flour, you can use all-purpose flour, but the texture and flavor will be slightly different.
