For an extra layer of flavor, consider adding a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to the sweet potato mixture. Toast the walnuts by spreading them on a baking sheet and baking at 350°F (175°C) for 5-7 minutes, or until fragrant. Watch carefully to prevent burning. If you don't have walnuts, pecans or even a sprinkle of crumbled bacon would also be delicious. For a smoother filling, use an electric mixer to combine the ingredients.
