For extra flavor, marinate the ground turkey mixture for 30 minutes before rolling into meatballs. Adjust the sweetness of the teriyaki sauce by adding more or less brown sugar to taste. Serve over rice, noodles, or with toothpicks as an appetizer.
These juicy Teriyaki Meatballs are bursting with flavor, featuring a luscious homemade teriyaki glaze. Quick to prepare, they're perfect for an easy weeknight dinner or served as a delightful appetizer. Baking ensures tender, succulent meatballs that are healthier than their fried counterparts.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Line a 17x12-inch rimmed baking sheet with aluminum foil.
In a large bowl, gently combine ground turkey, panko bread crumbs, green onion, egg, ginger, garlic, and sesame oil until just mixed.
Roll the mixture into 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 inch meatballs.
Place meatballs on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until cooked through and the internal temperature reaches 170 degrees F (77 degrees C).
While the meatballs are baking, prepare the teriyaki sauce. In a small saucepan, combine brown sugar, hoisin sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger. Simmer over medium heat for 3-5 minutes, stirring frequently, until the sauce has slightly thickened.
Once the meatballs are cooked, transfer them to a mixing bowl. Drizzle the warm teriyaki sauce over the meatballs and toss gently to coat evenly.
Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onion before serving.
For extra flavor, marinate the ground turkey mixture for 30 minutes before rolling into meatballs. Adjust the sweetness of the teriyaki sauce by adding more or less brown sugar to taste. Serve over rice, noodles, or with toothpicks as an appetizer.
