For a richer flavor, use a combination of ground beef and Italian sausage instead of ground turkey.
To prevent the shells from sticking, lightly grease the baking dish before adding the stuffed shells.
Freezing Instructions: Assemble the stuffed shells in the baking dish, cover tightly with plastic wrap and then foil. Freeze for up to 2 months. When ready to bake, thaw overnight in the refrigerator and bake as directed, adding an additional 15-20 minutes to the baking time.
Consider adding a layer of ricotta cheese to the bottom of the baking dish for extra creamy texture.
Fresh basil leaves can be sprinkled on top after baking for an extra touch of flavor and freshness.
