Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). (5 minutes)

02

Step

On a lightly floured surface, roll out half of the pie dough and gently place it into a 9-inch pie plate. Trim and crimp the edges for a decorative finish. (10 minutes)

03

Step

In a large bowl, combine the sliced pears, apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, ginger, salt, and lemon juice. Toss gently to ensure all the fruit is coated with the spices. (10 minutes)

04

Step

Spoon the fruit mixture into the prepared pie crust, mounding slightly in the center. (5 minutes)

05

Step

Roll out the remaining pie dough and either place it over the fruit filling as a full crust, or cut it into strips to create a lattice top. If using a full crust, cut slits to allow steam to escape. (15 minutes)

06

Step

Trim and seal the edges of the top crust (or lattice strips) to the bottom crust, crimping to create a decorative edge. (5 minutes)

07

Step

Brush the top crust with milk and sprinkle evenly with cinnamon sugar. (2 minutes)

08

Step

Bake in the preheated oven for 30-40 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling. If the crust starts to brown too quickly, tent it loosely with foil. (40 minutes)

09

Step

Let the pie cool completely on a wire rack before slicing and serving. (60 minutes)

For a deeper flavor, try using a combination of different pear and apple varieties.
If your fruit is very juicy, you may want to add an extra tablespoon of flour to the filling to prevent the pie from becoming soggy.
To prevent the edges of the crust from burning, you can use pie shields or strips of foil during the last 15 minutes of baking.
Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for an extra indulgent treat.
