Follow The Directions

01

Step

Season the flank steak generously with salt and pepper. (5 minutes)

02

Step

Place the seasoned steak in the slow cooker. Scatter the chopped carrot and onion around the steak. Sprinkle with thyme and tuck in the bay leaf. (5 minutes)

03

Step

Pour in the water. (1 minute)

04

Step

Cover and cook on High for 4 hours. (240 minutes)

05

Step

Turn the steak over, pressing it down into the liquid. Continue cooking until the steak is incredibly tender and a fork slides through it with ease, approximately 4 hours more. (240 minutes)

For enhanced flavor, sear the flank steak in a hot skillet before placing it in the slow cooker. This creates a rich crust and adds depth to the final dish.
Consider adding a splash of red wine vinegar or Worcestershire sauce for extra tang and complexity.
If you prefer a richer sauce, thicken the cooking liquid with a cornstarch slurry (1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons cold water) during the last 30 minutes of cooking.
Leftover flank steak is fantastic in sandwiches, salads, or tacos.
