Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch square baking pan with butter. (5 minutes)

02

Step

In a large bowl, cream together 1 cup of the sugar and the softened butter until light and fluffy using an electric mixer. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the yogurt and vanilla. (10 minutes)

03

Step

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. (5 minutes)

04

Step

In a small bowl, combine the remaining 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon. (2 minutes)

05

Step

Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the batter. Arrange the plum and peach slices over the batter, then sprinkle with the remaining cinnamon-sugar mixture. (10 minutes)

06

Step

Bake in the preheated oven for 45-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool slightly before serving. (55 minutes)

For an extra layer of flavor, consider adding a handful of chopped almonds or walnuts to the cinnamon-sugar topping.
If you don't have plain yogurt, sour cream can be used as a substitute.
To prevent the fruit from sinking to the bottom of the cake, toss the sliced fruit with a tablespoon of flour before adding them to the batter.

Easy to follow recipe, and the results are outstanding. I added a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top, and it was heavenly.
