Combine and Knead: Add 1 cup of all-purpose flour and 3 cups of whole wheat flour to the bowl, along with the remaining brown sugar, salt, vegetable oil, and milk. Mix on low speed until the ingredients are just combined. Increase the speed to medium and gradually add the remaining flour, about 1/2 cup at a time, until the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl and clings to the dough hook. You may not need to use all of the flour. Knead on medium speed for approximately 5 minutes. (Total time: ~20 minutes)
