Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking pan. (5 minutes)

02

Step

In a large bowl, beat together the yellow cake mix, sour cream, eggs, and vegetable oil with an electric mixer on medium speed for 3 minutes, until well combined.

03

Step

Pour half of the cake batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading evenly.

04

Step

In a separate small bowl, combine the brown sugar and ground cinnamon. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the batter in the pan.

05

Step

Carefully pour the remaining cake batter over the brown sugar-cinnamon layer, spreading gently to cover.

06

Step

Bake in the preheated oven for 45 to 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

07

Step

While the cake is baking, prepare the glaze. In a medium bowl, whisk together the confectioners' sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. (5 minutes)

08

Step

Once the cake is out of the oven, immediately poke holes all over the top of the hot cake with a fork.

09

Step

Pour the confectioners' sugar glaze evenly over the top of the cake, allowing it to seep into the holes.

10

Step

Let the cake cool completely in the pan before serving. (30 minutes)

For an extra touch of flavor, try adding a teaspoon of almond extract to the glaze.
Be careful not to overbake the cake, as it can become dry. Check for doneness starting at 45 minutes.
Store leftover cake in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
