Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish. (Prep time: 5 minutes)

02

Step

In a large bowl, gently combine the ground beef, rolled oats, 6 tablespoons of finely chopped sweet onion, milk, salt, and black pepper. Avoid overmixing to keep the meatballs tender. (Prep time: 10 minutes)

03

Step

Roll the mixture into approximately 2-inch meatballs. Place meatballs in the prepared baking dish, spacing them evenly. (Prep time: 15 minutes)

04

Step

In a separate bowl, whisk together the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, sugar, 4 1/2 tablespoons of finely chopped sweet onion, apple cider vinegar, and water until the sugar is fully dissolved. (Prep time: 5 minutes)

05

Step

Pour the sauce evenly over the meatballs, ensuring each meatball is generously coated. (Prep time: 2 minutes)

06

Step

Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 1 1/2 hours, or until the sauce is bubbling and thickened, and the meatballs are cooked through. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center of a meatball should register at least 160 degrees F (70 degrees C). (Bake time: 90 minutes)

07

Step

Let the meatballs rest for 10 minutes before serving. This allows the sauce to thicken slightly and the flavors to meld. (Rest time: 10 minutes)

For a richer flavor, brown the meatballs in a skillet before baking.
Feel free to adjust the sweetness of the sauce to your liking. Add a pinch of red pepper flakes for a hint of spice.
Serve these meatballs over mashed potatoes, rice, or pasta for a complete and satisfying meal.
These meatballs freeze exceptionally well. Allow to cool completely, then freeze in a single layer on a baking sheet before transferring to a freezer bag.
