In a large mixing bowl, combine the coleslaw mix, uncooked ramen noodles (crushed into small pieces), sunflower seeds, slivered almonds, green onions, and drained water chestnuts. (5 minutes)

In a separate bowl, whisk together the beef-flavored ramen seasoning packet, canola oil, rice vinegar, and sugar until the sugar is completely dissolved. (3 minutes)

Pour the dressing over the coleslaw mixture and toss gently until all ingredients are evenly coated. (2 minutes)

Cover the bowl tightly and refrigerate for at least 6 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld together. Toss again before serving. (6+ hours)

For a richer flavor, toast the sunflower seeds and almonds in a dry skillet over medium heat until lightly golden before adding them to the coleslaw.
Feel free to adjust the amount of sugar and vinegar to your liking. Some people prefer a tangier coleslaw, while others like it sweeter.
If you don't have rice vinegar, you can substitute apple cider vinegar or white vinegar.
To prevent the coleslaw from becoming too soggy, wait until just before serving to add the dressing.
For a vegetarian option, use vegetable-flavored ramen noodles.
