Carefully transfer the softened pears to a food processor or blender. Pulse until the mixture reaches your desired consistency – from slightly chunky to completely smooth. Return the pureed pears to the pot. Stir in the brown sugar, lemon zest, nutmeg, almond extract, and limoncello liqueur. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring frequently, until the pear butter thickens to a rich, spreadable consistency, similar to softened butter (approximately 1 hour). Be patient and stir often to prevent scorching.

Apr 19, 2025This recipe is fantastic! The lemon zest really brightens the flavor of the pears. I used it as a glaze for pork tenderloin – delicious!

Apr 2, 2025My pear butter didn't thicken as much as I expected. What could I have done wrong?

Jan 21, 2025I made this with my kids, and it was so easy! We loved the almond extract. We had it on waffles this morning.

Jan 16, 2025Response: Make sure you cook it long enough and keep stirring. The longer you cook it, the thicker it will be. Also, different pears have different water content, so some may require a longer cooking time.
