Follow The Directions

01

Step

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. (1 minute)

02

Step

Add the bratwurst to the skillet and cook, turning occasionally, until browned on all sides. (6-8 minutes)

03

Step

Remove the bratwurst from the skillet and set aside on a plate, leaving the flavorful drippings in the pan.

04

Step

Add the sliced apples and onions to the skillet with the drippings. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the onions are softened and slightly caramelized. (8-10 minutes)

05

Step

Return the bratwurst to the skillet, nestling them amongst the apple and onion mixture.

06

Step

Pour the beer over the bratwurst and vegetables. Season generously with sea salt and freshly ground black pepper.

07

Step

Bring the beer to a simmer, then reduce the heat to medium-low. Cover the skillet and cook until the bratwurst is cooked through and no longer pink in the center. (25-30 minutes). An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center of a bratwurst should read 160 degrees F (70 degrees C).

For a deeper flavor, try using a dark beer like a stout or porter.
Serve with a side of tangy coleslaw or a crusty bread for soaking up the delicious beer sauce.
If you prefer a sweeter dish, add a tablespoon of brown sugar or maple syrup to the skillet along with the beer.
Ensure the bratwurst reaches an internal temperature of 160°F (70°C) to guarantee they are fully cooked and safe to eat.
