Follow The Directions

01

Step

Combine all ingredients—chilled heavy cream, cocoa powder, powdered sugar, espresso powder, vanilla extract, and sea salt—in a high-powered blender. (Estimated time: 2 minutes)

02

Step

Blend on high speed for approximately 30-45 seconds, or until the mixture is smooth, thick, and aerated. Be careful not to over-blend, as this can cause the cream to curdle. (Estimated time: 45 seconds)

03

Step

Transfer the mousse to individual serving dishes or a single larger bowl. (Estimated time: 5 minutes)

04

Step

Cover and chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld and the mousse to firm up. For an even more decadent experience, chill for up to 3 hours. (Estimated time: 1-3 hours)

05

Step

Garnish with fresh berries, chocolate shavings, or a dusting of cocoa powder before serving, if desired. (Estimated time: 2 minutes)

For an extra layer of flavor, try adding a tablespoon of your favorite liqueur, such as coffee liqueur or Frangelico.
Dutch-processed cocoa powder will provide a richer, smoother chocolate flavor, but regular unsweetened cocoa powder will also work.
Adjust the amount of espresso powder to your preference. If you're not a fan of coffee, you can omit it entirely.
If you don't have a high-powered blender, you can use a regular blender or food processor, but the mousse may not be quite as smooth and airy.

My kids loved this! I omitted the espresso powder for them, and it was still delicious.
