Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9x13-inch baking pan. (5 minutes)

02

Step

In a large bowl, beat egg whites with an electric mixer until stiff peaks form. Gradually add sugar, beating until glossy. Gently fold in egg yolks, then gradually beat in flour, then beat in milk, melted butter, 4 teaspoons vanilla extract, and baking powder, thoroughly beating in each ingredient before adding the next. Pour batter into the prepared baking pan. (20 minutes)

03

Step

Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 30 minutes. Let cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then invert onto a wire rack to cool completely. (40 minutes)

04

Step

In a large bowl, whisk together sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and half-and-half. Poke holes all over the cooled cake with a fork. Place the cake in a pan deeper and longer than cake; slowly pour milk mixture over the cake, allowing it to soak in. (15 minutes)

05

Step

In a separate bowl, beat cream cheese and remaining 1 teaspoon vanilla extract with an electric mixer until smooth. Gradually add heavy cream, beating until stiff peaks form. Spread whipped cream frosting evenly over the cake. (10 minutes)

06

Step

Refrigerate the cake for at least 2 hours to allow the milks to fully absorb before serving. (120 minutes)

For an extra touch, dust the top of the cake with cinnamon or cocoa powder before serving.
If you prefer a less sweet cake, reduce the amount of sugar in the batter.
To prevent the cake from becoming soggy, make sure it is completely cool before soaking it in the milk mixture.
