For a smoother butter, use an immersion blender to puree the mixture after simmering. Be careful as the mixture will be hot. Adjust the amount of pumpkin pie spice to your liking. A pinch of ground cloves or nutmeg can also be added for extra warmth. Sterilize your jars by boiling them in water for 10 minutes prior to filling. Pumpkin butter can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks, or frozen for longer storage.
